Options on the LT model include a power sunroof, a DVD entertainment system for second- and third-row passengers, and leather hides on the seats.
This top-level model bolsters the comfort and convenience factor with leather, front seats that are heated and cooled, remote engine starting, and a Home Link universal remote, among other features. The LTZ also gets handsome 20-inch alloy wheels.
Fuel economy registers 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway for front-wheel-drive models, while all-wheel-drive Traverses deliver up to 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
From a reliability perspective, the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse could be doing a better job of convincing people to switch to Chevy. Consumer Reports predicts that reliability will be above average with front-wheel drive and average with AWD. Our other source of dependability data, J.D. Power and Associates, also gives the Traverse an average predicted reliability rating.
Like last year’s model, the 2011 Traverse has earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (models built after January of 2011). Despite the modifications to the program, the Traverse receives a 4-Star frontal impact rating, a 5-Star side impact rating, and a 4-Star resistance to rollover rating.
The 2011 Chevy Traverse that we drove from Pittsburgh to Asheville provided me an overall sense of security on the trip. It's a large, sturdy vehicle with tons of features. Ordinarily, I'd be a little unnerved, but I bet he was just staring at the beauty of the Chevy Traverse. There's tons of room - enough for 8 passengers. The seats move easily so that there is easy access to the third row. So helpful for traveling and for daily life with kids. Thank you so much, Chevy, for your generosity in making this a wonderful trip for mom blogger who really needed to get away!
Peak output is rated at 288 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque for models equipped with a dual exhaust, or 281 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque for models with a single exhaust. Comfort and interior space are strengths of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse design, and you could almost think of it as a minivan interior without the sliding doors. Though the primary purpose of the Chevy Traverse interior is people-moving, GM's smart packaging choices show when you fold the seats down—producing a nice, nearly flat cargo floor. Even behind the third-row seat, there's 24.4 cubic feet of space, while folding the second and third rows down yields 117.5 cubic feet. The 2011 Chevrolet Traverse is available in three levels of trim—LS, LT, and LTZ—as well as either front- or all-wheel-drive configurations.
